(no subject)

My perl program has a saggy diaper that leaks.

Some MBTA buses seem to be sacrificing advertising space on their outer side panels for wartime editorials, inasmuch as you can editorialize with a dozen words or less. Right before the first bombs fell I saw one that had hauled out a 9/11 "United We Stand" poster, and this made me cringe. Today I saw another bus that carried no poster at all, and someone had painted directly onto the panels beneath: "You don't have to like the war to support our troops!" This did not make me cringe so much. I'm curious who decides to do these things; I assume that the MBTA does not want for advertisers. (I can't recall ever seeing a 'YOUR AD HERE' poster on any vehicle or station.)

Meanwhile, some NYT.com articles feature an ad for ready.gov that has an embedded movie of Tom Ridge flapping his gums about something; I dunno exactly what he's saying because the sound won't come through for me. And I'm certainly not complaining, but still... I bet this ad's going over reeeeeeal well with the readership at large. Cough.

belay that

I've decided to stay home this weekend, rather than run up north. I guess I thought I'd have that leak fixed, but I don't, and it's getting to the point where I can't invest a lot of fun-time until this problem is solved.

I am making progress in fixing leaks; the problem, I suspect, is that my app suffers not from a single bad leak, as I first thought, but instead acts as veritable showerhead of unreleased structures. Blarghh. I isolate and plug one at a time, and will continue until the problem goes away completely. Not there yet.

Teach me a lesson, anyway.
