(no subject)

Something I didn't notice about late-night talk shows before: the host almost never leaves the frame, even when he's interviewing a guest. I'm watching the British "Parkinson Starburst" talk show now (via BBC America, via-via TiVo Suggestions) and the camera zooms on the interview subject (it happens to be famous American actor Tom Hanks) whenever he speaks for a signifcant length of time. Camera pops back out to both men when the host asks a question, or laughs, and then zips back onto the guest's face as he continues. It looks bizarre.
