The best conferences are ones across the street from one's own offices. Today's conference (about biological screening) is largely over my head; after sitting politely through a few lectures and then taking notes during the Informatics-BoF (as my boss asked me to do), I snuck away, into my cubicle. I sit there now, but in about three hours I'm going to sneak back, as there's a follow-up BoF in the new Bertucci's at Longwood (the existence of which I didn't know about until today). Yum yum.

The new building here at HMS is very pretty, and has some great spaces in it (I enjoyed lounging and enjoying the WiFi during the breaks), but the conference layout is completely broken; to get lunch, you had to follow a pheromone-trail of fellow attendees that snaked back and forth across the building, up several flights of stairs. Fortunately, this was when I remembered that I work here, and (more inportant) I didn't care about doing any social networking with these people, so I bailed and bought a real lunch at a local lunchy place. Go me.
