(no subject)

Everyone is asking me about it (well, two or three of you are, anyway) so I'll share what I know. (I have no official connection with it; I'm just an avid attendee. This will be my fourth year.)

The 30th annual Boston Sci-Fi Film Festival, a.k.a. SF30, will yes-indeedy be at the Somerville Theatre in Davis Square this Prez Day weekend, Feb 18-20. They're trying a new format this year, making more of a convention out of it, with extra programming rounding out the actual 24-hour marthon on Saturday-Sunday. (I don't know if I'll be attending any of the other stuff, myself.)

Special guest will be Christopher Coppola (of the yes-those Coppolas), who will be bringing his film "The Creature of Sunny Side Up Trailer Park".

The preliminary movie list includes many interesting things, though debate over the appropriateness of some has caused a voting ballot to appear. (I might suggest killing "Field of Dreams", a misguided attempt to celebrate the Sox victory. And voting for "The Apple", which I haven't seen, but looks like hideous fun.)

I will be attending with the same crowd as last year, including [livejournal.com profile] doctor_atomic, [livejournal.com profile] daerr and [livejournal.com profile] kyroraz, and probably the doctor's loyal lab assistant too (though I'm told his hunchback starts aching after a few hours so he may only be there for part of it). I'd be interested in hearing if you-yes-you are thinking of coming as well.
