But, meanwhile, I still have a job to do, and I'd like to give my past self a phantasmal crosstime high-five for leaving behind a neat little to-do list for post-weekend self to find once he finally settled in.

Advice to those lost in the churn: keep a work journal, and write something it before going home every day. (Or during going home, if you ride the bus, like me. Or right after going home, if you are forgetful, like me.) I started one on my personal Wiki over the summer, and it's great: it convinces me I'm actually getting stuff done, gives me a place to drop quick Web links to relevant stuff I find or make, and lends a stronger sense of continuity to my life's at-work partition.

I probably should keep a workjournal.

LJ has the good side effect that if I do log my life every now and then, say, everyday, then days stop melting together into a big slagging heap of molten foo.
