Fair and Balanced

But I will nod at a good thing Fox did during the same broadcast: the very last image during the closing-credits montage (which visually encapsulated the Red Sox' whole history and was clearly prepared ahead of time, probably alongside one about the Cardinals that alas shall go unseen (unless they were going to be mean and show the Red Sox one in either case, since it was mostly a chronicle of arghh)) was a still image borrowed from the opening-credits montage of Cheers, depicting a WWII-era guy in a bar joyfully holding up a newspaper with the giant headline WE WIN!. I smiled.

Oh, and then they showed that one Nike ad that I had been told about but hadn't seen yet, the one with the little boy in the box seat who grows into a very old man, fading to black as the year-odometer at the bottom of the screen reaches 2004 and his etched look of patient disappointment melts into reserved hope as the crowd around him sees one last hit, and damn. I'm almost crying now, just thinking about it. OK, am crying now. O, Li'l Brudder, you're such a trooper.

Now I will buy all the sneakers! PWND
