SF30 was good.

This year's film marathon was great, actually. After four of these events the novelty's long gone for me, so I know it has to have been a particularly good one if I want to claim that it may have been the best one yet (or maybe the second-best one after the first one I went to). There was only one bad movie and nearly a dozen good-to-great ones, and I never fell asleep or became bored (except for a little napping I did despite myself during the final film). Full summary later, but I'll mention the surprise gem now: Primer, a low-budget 2004 film by and starring nobody you've heard of, and a jaw-dropping time travel story. Hmm, I have to get jhango to show this one soon. The DVD'll be out in a couple months.

(There were more than one "bad" movie, of course -- one was almost certainly the biggest flaming turkey I've ever seen on the big screen -- but some of these go over really well at the marathon anyway. Others, though, just stink.)

Having it so close to my house was great. I really liked being able to drive to my house and use my own facilities at 4 in the morning.

I'm sorry that I couldn't get any of my local friends to come, but they were all booked with one of the other things going on this weekend. (And I wish I could have gone to all of them! But, I had been planning on the 'thon for months in advance this year, alas.)

So this brings to a close the winter convention season as I see it, the one that starts with the Mystery Hunt. Back to work.
