I'm pleased that clinical immortality seems to be a meme on the rise, largely thanks to Aubrey de Grey. I have recently seen his hirsute smile from the cover of several print magazines, and even on Free Republic during one of my self-abusive peeks onto that site (though granted most of the comments were of the "Huh huh his hair is funny; that article shore has a lot of words" variety).
Some science fiction author, with I remembered who, said something like "many a man longs for immortality who doesn't know what to do with himself on a rainy Sunday afternoon"
