It sounds like the VHEMT folks are an extreme form of misanthropes, which is a group of people who can be quite amusing to hanging around.

But they lack either the virtue of self-consistency or courage. Serious misanthropes get themselves out of the way permanently. Gutless (or inconsistent) ones hang around making faux arguments about how much better everything would be if they were dead.

The only kind of misanthrope worth being is one who never says, "People are bad," but rather, "I am bad." Abstract terms like "people" are lies that cowards hide behind.
