Heroes Season 2 non-review

Heroes makes me sad because it has such a potential for greatness but it hobbles itself with all this weird crap that it drags along. And lo, they did not spontaneously get rid of any of it between seasons.

I winced over and over through the premiere, and finally turned it off when it became clear that the show will now have two super-creepy child characters on it. The kids on this show are written and directed to act like experienced, nuanced adults, and I'm fairly sure at this point that it's less because they're supposed to be unusual and more that the writing and directing kinda stinks.

Those kids give me the willies! They're far worse even than sitcom kids who crack wise like cynical, tired gag writers.

Funny you think that. I actually thought Mollie was written very realistically, to the extent of being a somewhat frustrating character in a way that she was single-minded and idealistic, not open for Matt to explain, for example, why there is no "cheating" in saving people's lives. I didn't read her as a fake adult or non-childlike child at all.

I'm willing to concede that I am out of touch with how iRL kids act since it's been a long time since I've been around any. Let us say that by the time the scene with Mollie and Matt in Matt's house came around there was a definite quality of straw/camel trauma waiting to happen.
