He's totally allowed to have that Pac-Man sticker on his laptop

It occurred to me last night that, if you use the same metrics that I do, Obama just squeaks under the bar for qualifying as a fellow Gen-X-er. He was 19 on Jan 1, 1981, and therefore was a teenager during some part of the 1980s no matter how you slice it, even if only for a few months.

So, there you have it.

A while back I was thinking that Obama is almost, but probably not quite young enough to have been exposed to video games as a preteen child. They'd have started appearing in significant numbers when he was a teenager in Hawaii--young enough that he probably doesn't think of them as a weird thing that the kids do.

He's a year older than me, and therefore old enough to remember the landing on the Moon, my personal divide between me and "the younger generation". I still self-identify more as a Gen-X'er than a Boomer, though, which fits your definition.
