Book

Twenty heavy copies of the Book arrived at the games of Minas Morgul a couple of days ago, but it should tell you something about my continuing attitude towards it that I have repeatedly forgotten to bring any of them anywhere. O, the cursed thing. Well. I think that first I need to make a list of recipients, since I have enough copies that I can afford getting a little creative with that. As in: fondly remembered high school english teachers, or the UMaine IT overlords who brought me into the Mac fold, or Mac-using writers of weblogs I like but whom I have never actually met.

I'm pretty sure that I've noted before that I found through Google the current whereabouts of ol' Prof. Hammond, the fellow who, when I was in 9th grade, first told me I was a writer. He's still in Florida, but teaching at a university now, and still very active in environmental causes; indeed, it's his environmentalism and not his academics that have pushed him up the Googlerank. Right on. I haven't contacted him since this discovery, and I smile to think of his reaction when he gets the package from me.

Now I am behind in writing a promotional piece for the O'Reilly Network. Bleah. Well, I told the PR person I'd set some time aside tonight to craft up an idea. I'll try to have some fun with it.

I thought the book was out already so I tried looking for it in our local bookstore a few weeks ago -- apparently I jumped the gun a bit. The store's computer said it wasn't published yet.
