progJust a quick update to allay possible worry (that I'm being dumb):
Someone noted to me last night that the crampy area I've been complaining about is right where the ol' appendix is, and that my symptoms sounded like classic appendicitis warnings. After reading a couple of Web pages on the topic that basically conclude with "Why are you still here? Call a doctor!" I rang up the university health hotline, and the nice lady who listens to panicky people at 3 a.m. gently told me that if my vermiform friend were actually about to blow, I'd have continual pain or nausea, and not just daily hour-long bouts thereof. (She also scolded me: "So, you let what you read on the Internet scare you.")
I have succeeded in waking up early, and so far, no ouchies. Holding out for both that PMFI and the opinion of Dr. M. Still going to have this issue poked at by a professional, ASAP.
