Heading a real-live software project for the first time is exciting, even if it is only two guys right now. Hello, Two Guys Software, may I help you? We're working on the proof-of-concept piece now, and yesterday we chose an official project name that we can stick with. (It's a slick-sounding non-word that sounds like a lot of topically related words, and has no claims across the com/net/org-space. I feel like I should bill myself $5,000 for finding it.) (My first choice was a real, if obscure, word, that I yesterday discovered led to a German porn site.)

Side note: if this thing takes off (and maybe even if it doesn't, but why ponder that?), I could probably spin it into XP towards a future management position, should it ever come to that. I've no practical reason to think about it now, but as my age soars into triple digits I start to wonder if I might actually do well in management. Based on current self-knowledge, I think: "Yes, I'd probably do a good job, though I don't know if I'd enjoy it much." This further based both on observations of and conversations with the many managers I know now (including folks like [livejournal.com profile] jtroutman, Orwant, and my boss), and my own management experience -- which I tend to overlook -- at the ol' Maine Campus. Herding student journalists enough to crank out three issues of fresh content every week was actually quite an experience, and I received a lot of praise before it drove me into complete burnout after one semester.
