Ahm not dayd either
Jul. 19th, 2002 04:20 pmI sank the whole work-day Wednesday into upgrading my iBook's DAMPness. It's now running the very latest Mason (which has many more features than the version it was previously running), the latest Perl (as opposed to the somewhat buggy 5.6.0), the latest mod_perl (which I didn't really need, but had to recompile anyway, given the new Perl) and the latest Apache (which it actually was running already, but I broke it enough with all those other shenanigans to force a relink & recompile).
I spent that evening writing, instead of attending Mostly Looney night. I got some stuff done. It was OK. Last night I blew off even more social things and started to feel like I'm falling behind in friendship-cultivation. I'm letting
cthulhia drag me to a film festival tonight (yes, I know, twist my arm), and hope that I can see at least a little of Art Beat tomorrow, but the hairy fact is that I need the first half of the book to be as done as possible by Monday. Yoinks
To all my friends I make a request: if I get another contract offer right after I pass this draft in, tell me to say no. That is all. (This isn't a hiss at allayall for encouraging me to sign the Macnut deal; I think it is actually a Good Thing to be working on this book, but consider that I haven't been in a non-book-writing state since early 2001. I want to work on my own stuff for a change!)
