At the art museum friday I purchased a print of Jasper Johns' Zero-Nine. I hung it over the head of my bed-like device, completing a minor decorating goal of bildifying all four walls of my bedroom. (I do not think 'bildify' is a word but it should be. Maybe I'll make its OEDification a hobby goal, starting right now. Hey, "oedify", that's pretty good, too...)
I liked it a lot at first but now I wonder if it's too childish. That was sort of why I bought it; beyond being pretty, it links me back to my very young self, when I was obsessed with the physical shapes of numbers and letters, and the power they held as symbols. Magic stuff; I was onto something, and I'd like to remind myself of this. Certainly these kinds of symbols are at least as important to me now as they were then, and recognizing them with a colorful little wall-shrine seemed appropriate. But, beyond the personal connection, giant numbers hanging over the bed evokes a (somewhat nerdy) child's bedroom wallpaper, which is actually not the effect I was aiming for. I dunno. Maybe I'll just put it on a different wall.
Noah points out that he likes it because it starts at 0, as is proper for any array.
This weekend has been pretty good. Friday and Saturday I spent time with Cthulhia and Zarf, who was houseguesting with her. Ate interesting food and saw some movies. I really liked Spirited Away.
Zarf, a corn maze connoisseur, came to tromp around corn mazes with us, but it rained all weekend, alas. Nice and sunny today, after he went home, and I must tie myself at home to get ready for tomorrow's code review for my ICCB project. I'd like to do something at least vaguely presentable. We'll see what happens.
