My weekday evenings this week have been filling up with fun social plans, and I am forced to admit that my recent pattern of coming to work at noon and leaving at 8, while it suits my natural sleeping schedule, does not map well to pursuing after-work activity with the rest of the world, which often gets underway around 7 p.m. at the latest.

Successfully got up at around 8 a.m. this morning, after about 5.5 hours of sleep. I can pull this sort of trick once before I have to pay for it, usually; hence, unless I successfully fall asleep tonight at 11 p.m. instead of my usual 2 a.m., I'll wake up tomorrow sometime around noon.

Frustrating... but I feel obligated to try. This may be the most legitimate reason I've made to prize myself out of bed in the single-digit hours (having not worked at a time-sensitive job for 5 years), so I'm willing to see how well it works. I still have a feeling that I'm more productive on days where I'm awake through the morning, but I dunno how much of that is just the melatonin (not) talking. We'll see.
