Random observation: TV producers can't decide how to depict video games on modern shows. One show I saw had the characters using modern controllers to make silent, blocky little Pitfall Harry guys run around, and another had the character using a huge Atari joystick to control contemporary-looking, speaking cartoon characters.
At any rate, it's been my continual observation that the stock sound effects that mean "someone is playing a video game" have not changed in 20 years. These include noises from the Atari 2600 versions of Pac-Man and Donkey Kong.
