jmac wastes time a lot.
Jun. 14th, 2003 01:33 pmI learned too late that my model of Tivo can communicate with its mothership via broadband Internet, instead of using its modem and a phone line. It had to download some operating system patches before telling me this, though, so there is some question as to whether or not I'd need this phone line at least once anyway. Well... I suppose that if I had known in advance, I would have borrowed a friend's phone line (and TV) for the purpose. Oh well. I guess I'll figure out how the broadband doohickey works, and then cancel my phone line again. (Unless someone can point out a reason why I might want to keep it.)
I do want to cancel my NetFlix subscription now, but that means finding all of my NetFlix discs. Ugggh. I guess if I can't locate all three by month's end I'll just bite the bullet and pay for the lost ones; I feel that the service has become entirely extraneous to the direction that Operation AssGrow has taken.
A thank-you to my friends who recommended the PS2 game Amplitude. It's fun, and eminently satisfies my need for a quick arcade-style game. I enjoy rhythm games more than I might expect; the feeling of hitting a fast, complex pattern just right is quite enjoyable. Maybe something like biofeedback?
Had an epic dream in two parts this morning, which varied on the continuing theme of friendship and betrayal. The first part depicted me (who was both me and someone like Neo from The Matrix) abandoning some friends in trouble (played by dreamscape character actors, as opposed to actual internalized WL friends (though a few instances of the latter did show up elsewhere in the dream)), and the second had me meet strangers who put on a friendly face to ultimately deceive me. I wrote the whole complex thing down elsewhere, in outline form, so I probably won't detail it here. Maybe it will pop up in future writing, though...
I find this running dream theme very interesting, and wonder what I'm trying to tell myself. If anything.
Feeling kind of sick today. Maybe I'll finally set up my bedroom.
