It's past midnight and I'm w-i-i-ide awake. Normally not a problem, but I'm supposed to be getting up hella early tomorrow to catch a train outta South Station. Not too worried, since experience suggests that when I have a good reason to wake up early, my body lets it happen. Which is to say, it does not ignore N screaming alarm clocks, which I can happily snooze through when the morning promises nothing more interesting than YA day of work-work.

Yesterday morning, for example, I apparently slept right through the 7 a.m. Move ya cahs call-out, and so I got a big heaping helping of parking ticket. At least I didn't get a tow, which is rather a relief... I have been led to believe that Somerville is getting more tow-happy lately, but I guess they're not yet as bad as Cambridge.

On [livejournal.com profile] rikchik's advice I picked up some Ecco shoes today, and I gots me the happy feet. They're at least as comfy as they were expensive, but I don't mind dropping a couple of Cs on everyday (and I mean every day) footwear that'll last a few years, which is what I've been told about these things. So that's good.

Boss and orker are both being cute about the fact I'm going to Baltimore, because they're both from that same burg. They're disappointed that I'm going merely to visit people they've never met, and can't even name the particular area I'm visiting. Fooey on me!

Lately I have been preferring the word "fool" over "foo" as my metasyntactic variable of choice. No particular reason, other than it came up a lot through my adventures in the first half of 2003. (But I also based at least one example in MOSXiaN on the word, so it must have started last year...)

And instead of "bar" I say "foolfool". Change is good, but not always efficient.

Important LAUNDR-O-MAT update: On my second visit tonight, I noticed that the big sign said that the dryers were always free. So that solves the mystery of the blinking 8059s, I suppose. It certainly makes me less annoyed at the $2.00-to-start washing machines, or the $1.00-to-start debit cards.

Tonight I also learned that they are open until 1 a.m. (Wow... if only they were closer to the Diesel!) I hereby give the LAUNDR-O-MAT the happy ♥.

Watching The PowerPuff Girls is always a little extra bizarre for me because in the back of my mind I am continually thinking: Wow, they made a cartoon based of the Diesel Café's mascot! How cool is that!

Heh, I woke up by myself in a panic several times between 4 and 7 a.m., sure that my three alarm clocks had failed me. But, all is well.

Assuming neither I nor Amtrak has screwed things up, I should be able to pick up my tix at the counter, and off I go. So: off I go.
