I was just now writing the world's most brilliant post ever about Mac OS X Panther, when my laptop, freshly installed with it, ran out of battery power, so it shut itself off. Er.

I really hope this is a hardware issue. Oddly. (Laptop is getting its brain transferred to a shiny new case soon...) Was hoping that the upgrade would fix the problem, apparently introduced with 10.2.8, that caused the battery indicator to convey no information (it thought there was always at least a 90 percent charge, even after hours of use). This turned out not to be the case. Fooey.

Creating an SVG Wiki. Reminds me of BrainDump, or rather, what I'd like BrainDump to be, in my fantasies: as close to a true hyperlinked notebook as you can manage, with support -- maybe even emphasis -- on freehand writing and drawing (henceforth "scribbling"), and the ability to easily make scribbles into hyperlinks. This is for people like me who often need to actually scribble ideas with pen and paper in order to think better. But this results in individual sheets of paper everywhere with no metadata or logical connection among them, and I hate this along multiple axes.

Very very interesting. Will pursue later.

Also, made ORANet post about POOP.

My mysql compile, which is at least six months and maybe as much as a year old, still works! That's actually pretty impressive.

I had to get a new GUI Emacs, but no problems thereafter, so far.

Using Apple's stock Apache for now, and am dreading mod_perl configuration, when it comes time. Experiment at using stock Apache::Registry went splat, which is not a good sign.

Haven't tried Oracle libraries yet.

It took me a while to get today's "Get Fuzzy" but it was pretty funny once I did. It's probably too much to hope that Darby will drop out of meta-mode before Saturday, though.

That last one wasn't Panther's fault.
