Oh, did attempt the Fluxx tournament, got pounded into the sand across two games by a coupla kids, gothy-girl and goofy-boy. (The chief strategy of goofy-boy was to make me feel v. sad by talking like Meatwad from Aqua Teen Hunger Force. The other people at the table found this high-larious and responded in kind; roll out the Monty Python and Weird Al quotes!! Jeeeeezus. That game wasn't over fast enough.)
(I can't blame the kids; when I was their age, I too had a half-formed sense of teh funnay. With luck and practice they will get a clue and become geniuses like me.)
I didn't pack enough shirts. I remember thinking on Wednesday OK, time to go fetch my shirts, and I guess I got distracted on my way to my closet and forgot. Doh. So I'm wearing a "Time Repair Agency" T-shirt I bought from Andy Looney yesterday, and my long-sleeved cotton gray shirt over it... it's maybe too warm for long sleeves but I've already worn both of the other button-down shirts I brought, weh. (And I don't like wearing only a T-shirt.)
Mood swings: I am oscillating rapidly between being sick of people and wanting to be closer to people. This is actually normal, just more intense than usual here.
I think this may be my last Origins, at least an an ordinary attendee. Yesterday was good, but two and a half more days of it seems a little unnecessary. Much of my reasons are the same as my reasons for no longer attending SF cons, and my earlier declaration of divestment from All Fandoms (incl. Looney fandom). But more than that, I sort of want to do other things now, and so part of me is going to feel increasingly cranky about being stuck in Columbus until it's time to go back to work. I shall do my best to distract it by doing many different things while I am here.
Oh boy, the coffee is starting to work... I think I can feel those pancakes in transit, finally. Thank you, jmac! You are welcome. Headache ebbing too... joy. Time to put my shoes on. Have a nice weekend!
