A big CVS checkin wraps up four days of coding. Very nearly to version 0.5 of Frivolity (the Perl reference implementation of Volity), which will be the first release in 10 months... holy crap it's been a long time. But, this embraces a lot of change, all based on the last two months of mailing list discussion, as well as a bunch of stuff I've been putting off.

Will need to add polish and trim after this ICCB-phase, but the bulk of the work is done. I want to say this also represents the last really big bolus of server programming that I needed to pass before the beta this fall. I hope that's true.

I'm probably starting to freak out more than I really should about making deadline. I mean, it's good that I've made myself be continually aware of its approach, but boy I don't wanna overdo it. Ha, maybe that's asking too much from myself.

Meanwhile I seem to have become semi-nocturnal lately, falling asleep right around when the first birdies are chirping. (See time of this post.) Interestingly, I'm sleeping less this way... even when I wake up just before noon, I've only tallied 6 or 7 hours, but feel fine. Huh. Much as I complain about sleeping through mornings, I can totally get behind the idea of naturally sleeping less in general, so at the end of the day (ho ho) I'm not sure how I feel about this.

That expensive SleepTracker watch really isn't doing shit for me, by the way. It works, but I just switch off the alarm and fall back asleep, no matter which stage of sleep it woke me from. Pfui. Feel free to wager among yourselves over whether or not I'll actually attempt to invoke its guarantee.

This is a couple of days old, but I wanted to share anyway: was reading in the NYT that some high-level conservatives have started trying to manufacture a meme that Alberto Gonzales would not make a good SCOTUS justice because his views would deepen fractures within the party. "Aha," I thought, "His abominable take on torture, now highly exposed, is winning him few friends." And then I kept reading, and nope, nope: the issue was that he might possibly not be anti-abortion.

sigh

I wished the morning Cumberland Farms lady a happy 4th as I bought my coffee and she smiled sunnily. I love her, she's my favorite.

OTOH I think she put raspberry into the hazelnut pot this morning. yuch.
