Mar. 9th, 2006 01:31 pmAnother good betapalooza. It was different than the last one, in that only
rikchik showed up in person, but
ts52, MM and J all logged in remotely. The six of us managed to play for the whole four hours and create dozens of new RT tickets, and we had interesting conversations about improving invitations, seating & readiness, and user statistic tables. Thanks again, everybody!
We have two votes to move it to Thursdays, so making the next one happen two weeks from tonight is looking likely.
User statistics tables? Why yes! We have some rudimentary ones up on our fakey-fake website. It's a work in progress, so I'm going to be coy and not link directly to it here, but will mention that you can see some interesting stuff in the latest nightly build if you right-click (or control-click) on users' names from within Javolin. The info currently visible is just some stuff I threw together and applied no real page-layout to, just to have something. The data is 100 percent real, though, and updates with every game played.
Relatedly, our graphic designer (an employee of
jtroutman, who is graciously loaning him to us for 10 hours a week) has given us a first draft of a website design. This is very nice. Things are coming together.
The designer's already helped us make a logo, which is the icon you see attached to this post. (There are several permutations of it; this the the company logo.)
Meanwhile, Bill is well into his project of writing an up-to-date developer's guide that will cover every aspect of creating a Volity game, from coding the game logic through crafting its ruleset API and making and SVG-based UI file. This is very exciting. When he is done you bet I will start leaning on those of you who I know wanna make Volity games but haven't really had a good starting point to hold on to; you shall me our developer-side betatesters.
I'll post more when there's more to post. (And will probably notify some of you via direct email.)
jhango is showing Some Like it Hot tonight and I'm all over that; I'm exactly in the mood for a weird old movie.
