Tetris DS: I have confirmed that, in versus play, the players don't all get the same pieces; they are independently random for each player.

This is really disappoint, and seems like a bizarre thing for Nintendo to get wrong, since this has been a standard attribute of most every multiplayer Tetris game since the start. I suppose there's a chance that they made this choice on purpose, but if so I have to say that it's an objectively wrong decision.

Giving all players the the same array of pieces equates to starting them out on the same ground, with identical resources; the winner is the one who made better (and swifter) use of them. If everyone's random, though, then any losing player can reasonably make the argument that they simply got an unlucky piece distribution or ordering. And that really sucks.

Sorry if I've been off the radar for a few days. Am working hard on the volity.net website. Remember what I wrote 10 days ago about April being a make-or-break month? Our ability to start spreading our name around hinges on the website being functional. And so here is me crying that we're over a week into April already.

I have made a lot of progress, but it's a lot of work, and finishing has been a few hours out of reach for over a day now. I just learned that I will have to do a lot more ganky JavaScript hackery in order to get one particular application to do what I want, and I'm starting to think now that I should just punt and publish what I've got. I can add that other bit later.

I'm taking a break and playing Graham Nelson's Inform 7 demo game The Reliques of Tolti-Aph. It's actually great; I'm having a blast.
