Gave "Curb Your Enthusiam" another shot. Sorry, it's just not working out. I hate saying something like "It's like Seinfeld except everyone is George (and also rich)," but that really is the best description. People act predictably badly, get their comeuppance, everyone's miserable in the end. A few funny moments, but mostly it's the big eh. Three episodes in a row I tuned out halfway in, because I didn't want to see what happened next, and so that's that.

Antidote was watching "Space Ghost", which was about pee and dogs' asses, and I laughed and laughed. Perhaps I don't deserve to like shows like "Curb".

I also liked the season premiere of "Home Movies". But it also had pee in it. Sigh.

It took me a while to recall why you've been thinking that I think pee is the funniest thing in the world. But then I did. And now I'm smiling again because that was pretty funny, although not really.

Out of curiosity, when you thought, "It's like Seinfeld, except...", did you know that it's from the guy who did Seinfeld, or were you being singularly astute?

Yes, I knew. In fact, it's from the fellow who George's character was more or less based on, if I understand correctly. (And the first episode I saw had lots of Seinfeld references in it anyway (guest starring "Elaine") in case I missed that part.)

It's like "Seinfeld" except everyone is George (and it's R-rated, and there's no studio audience, and there's no commercials). That's exactly what I thought, and it's definitely an uncomfortable thing to watch, yet I still find it funny, often hysterically so. I'd like to say that it needs the momentum of watching a bunch of episodes, because of the story arcs and running gags (or at least motifs), but actually I was hooked from the first episode I saw. (I loved the faux-documentary it was based on, too, but it's a different enough thing that I don't consider that part of the series proper.) I will say that the episodes generally have clever endings (as did "Seinfeld"), so you should probably watch one all the way through to get to the punchline. Or not. De gustibus non est disputamundo or whatever.

Indeed, Entertainment Weekly's writer referred to it as making him "igrier than anything on television." Fine use of the word "igry," really.
