I dunno. I just got in the habit of if it's something that takes more than a page, I lj-cut it or a bunch of little weasels from the corner of the room will start chanting it. I guess they've got into my brain again.
It's not a sign of disrespect, I usually go through and read through a lot of lj-cutted foo anyway if someone does it with a good leadoff prefixing the whole thing.
