Iron Chef America micro-review

It's more fun than I'd expect. Alton Brown is a perfect commentator and the main reason I stayed for the whole show, even though he looks weird with his hair forced down to his scalp like that.

They cast the right guy as chairman, but he is apparently directed to act like a Star Trek android, hokey and creepy, adding a note of overproduced bizarrity that doesn't mesh well with the rest of the show. It would probably be improved by dropping his character entirely, but I suppose then the show wouldn't have been Iron Chef-y enough.

But it was so weird to understand all the chatter from the chefs.

i didn't like the score breakdown, i didn't like that the chairman picked the battling chef, i didn't like the super chatty cathy-ness of the chefs when serving, i didn't like that i couldn't see which judge scored how.

that said, i will watch again. because there is something so exciting about the whole concept.
