Feline TMI ahead

Well, she's been here a month now, I haven't heard from her "mom" except for that one uncertain ping (more than two weeks ago), and the other person she once lived with won't talk to me. So it's high time I took her to a vet. I know a lot of you have favorites in the area... now's a good time for a shout-out.

Mostly, this would be just a check-up and a status report; though "mom" told me of her health, I think I'd best get a professional opinion first-source. She seems very healthy, which is good. (Still no barf or litterbox misuse, which is great.) The only thing at all off-balance is that her butt is visibly (and smellily) poopy, more than I think a kitty-cat's normally is. Not horribly so, but enough to kind of gross me out given her predilection for sitting on every surface in the house (including Y.T.). I hope that can be fixed with a change of diet or something... I've been feeding her from the bag of Kitten Chow I happened to have on-hand when she arrived. (She is not a kitten.)

I think the Davis Sq. community has info about vets. Because birds aren't "normal" pets, I had to use the Andover Animal Hospital, which is very nice and very expensive. I'm sure there are good local places for a kitty to go.

Poopy butt = icky!

Awww, kitty! How old is she? Depending on her age, kitten chow may indeed be causing her digestive distress.

We always took our cats (my parents' cats and the ones I shared with [livejournal.com profile] suntop to the animal hospital in Brookline Village, where I volunteered as a kid, and the staff there are really nice. That's probably further away than you want to go, but if you're interested I can dig up the name and phone #.

No clue as to her age. One cat-wise friend has said that she looked not quite full-grown, but she's obviously not a lil baby cat either. So that's another good reason to see the doc!

Thanks for the tip... I'll keep in mind.

No question about it, you want Porter Square Vet at 360 Summer Street (yes, that's in Davis Square. They used to be in Porter and didn't change their name when they moved).

Ginger goes there. So do Trolley, Aditu, and Crowley.

Awesome, this is what I was hoping to hear. I'll give them a call. Thanks!!

C'mon, all the cool kitties are doing it!

T, A, and C see Doctor Leavey. The cats don't love her, but we do. You know why? Because she's willing to see Trolley. Come on, imagine Trolley at the vet. I dare you.

I'll give you a hint: it involves two people, a towel, and shoulder length leather gauntlets.

I'm generally happy with Porter Square Vet (now in Davis Square). Meep's been going there all of her 13 years.

Remind me that if I visit we'll want to go _out_ to eat. :)

no more kitten chow. it may not solve the crap problem, but you really should be feeding her something for adult kitties.

Purina Kitten Chow == McDonald's-only diet

STOP feeding her that stuff now! It's BAD. Go get her some Wellness. That food is the bomb. No meat byprodutcs. Pure human-grade meats and grains. Also, sometimes cats' butts get poopy, and you have to get a warm cloth and wipe them. I know, I never thought I could do it until I had my own cat, but somehow, wiping her butt is better than wondering where she sat with it in that state nudge nudge.
