You can blow it up!

Unless this is a hoax, Christopher Walken is running for president.

I actually caught myself thinking WOW COOL. Ugh.

Edit: Looks like a hoax. (Thanks [livejournal.com profile] daerr)

Every time someone mentiones "Christopher Walken" I get the "Hackensack" song by Fountains of Wayne stuck in my head.

Damn. That would have made for some fun-to-listen-to debates and speeches.

My immediate word association for "Christopher Walken": the movie scene where he laughs manically while machine-gunning miners just before he sets in motion his diabolical plot to destroy Silicon Valley by rupturing the San Andreas fault--I think the first time I ever saw him in film was as villain Max Zorin in the 1985 James Bond movie A View to a Kill.

After Arnold "36% Approval Rating" Schwarzenegger, a lot of CA voters aren't too keen on electing another actor (Southern California voters, that is--the Bay Area voted against him by a 2-1 ratio whereas So. California voted for him by a 3-1 ratio).

I'm actually under the impression that it's a clever bit of parody, since actors who get into politics are usually known for their heroic (or at least anti-heroic (Eastwood)) roles, where as Walken... is not.

Oh, I assume it's parody as well, thanks to Daerr's sleuthing, but that thing 'bout actors and politics comes out of another bit of California theatre: Rob Reiner has been testing the waters to run for guv vs AAS and he's not getting a whole lot of support.
