Upcoming Gameshelf casting

I need players for the following games, for shoots that will happen over the next three or four weeks:

  • The Awful Green Things from Outer Space (2 players): classic SF-horror-silly Tom Wham game where one player is a spaceship crew desperately trying to destroy the other player's fast-breeding Awful Green Things before they eat everyone.

  • Gnostica (2 - 5 players): abstract wargame played with Icehouse pieces on a shifting field of tarot cards. We'll touch on the endgame controversy and try some patches that the designers are working with.

  • Space Station Assault (2 players): simple and fast spaceship shoot-em-up card game. Published by Somerville's own Your Move Games.

  • Memoir '44 (2 players): modular, scenario-based WWII wargame, made "lightweight" through relatively abstract rules and a card-based tactical mechanic. Additionally, if anyone has (or knows of) an extra Memoir '44 set that is loanable, I'd like to try a Memoir '44 Overlord game, which I believe takes 4 players.

  • The Ur-Quan Masters, a.k.a. Star Control 2 (2 players). UQM is actually a single-player computer adventure game, but it includes a mini-game that lets two players blast away at each other with the various alien starships that appear throughout the main game. I want to capture a little footage of this in play, filming the players at the same time.

  • Leave a comment or send mail if you're interested, letting me know what games you'd like to play on-camera, and what your availably looks like. You may not get to be on every game you want to play, so feel free to overschedule yourself and we'll work out the details later. I haven't entirely decided what format to use for the 2-player games; the show has two hosts but it might be boring to just watch us play all of them, and I like the idea of constantly rotating in new guest players.

The shoot location in all cases will probably be the SCAT studio in Union Square, Somerville.

I'll do it if you can convince colorwheel or aspartaimee to do it. Which might involve Castle of Magic. :)

I would be happy to help

    ... if you need peoples.

The only restriction is that I'm on a weekend here, weekend not here cycle. This weekend is a here, next is away, next is here... until Ork changes it.

And of course, if you wish people to play SuperMelee... Hehehehe.

Oh that sounds like so much fun! Wish I was in Boston...

I'd be up for getting another big red x over my face! Awful Green Things is fun, IIRC and I'd love to learn a your Move Games game. I'm available on and off the next two weekends and possible weekday evening

I'm interested in Gnostica, though the others sound fun, too. Not Monday nights or Saturdays, otherwise reasonably open.

Gnostica. My availability is pretty much limited to weekends, but those are pretty much wide open given enough lead time (a week is safe). I'm out of town the weekend of October 15th, but I should otherwise be around.

I wouldn't mind playing some UQM mini-game stuff, too. I didn't realize that the ships had a second weapon until you said something about it after I'd already lost the game, so it would be interesting to check them out.

I'd be interested in playing Memoir '44. As for availability, any weekend is fine, as i have no life. :-) (Except this coming Sunday.)

I'd also be willing to fill a seat for any of the other games mentioned, but I'm not as familiar with them as with Memoir.
