I might have to do camera for this Wednesday's (as in day-after-tomorrow's) Gameshelf shoot, knocking us down to three Gnostica players. This is workable but I'd rather have four. Any volunteers? Call time is 7 pm Wednesday at the SCAT studio in Union Square. Reward is everlasting fame &c. Current players include [livejournal.com profile] magid, [livejournal.com profile] queue and [livejournal.com profile] taskboy. Contact me if you're interested. (You can just show up if you want, but in that case your role will probably be relegated to Silent, Brooding Off-Camera Audience.)

There might be a game of Memoir '44 in it for you too, if that's your bag. If you want to play M44 and not Gnostica, that would work too.

I need one(1) person for a short role in the Gameshelf I'm putting together now. It involves being a talking head for only a few moments, and acting like either a salty sea captain (esp. if I can find the right hat) or a reference librarian. No studio trip necessary; I can come to you. (Or you can come to me, or whatever.) I'd like to shoot it this weekend sometime.

I would prefer a female for this role, but feel free to step up even if you ain't one. However, I'd rather not use any of the four people who are already on this episode.

I need players for the following games, for shoots that will happen over the next three or four weeks:

  • The Awful Green Things from Outer Space (2 players): classic SF-horror-silly Tom Wham game where one player is a spaceship crew desperately trying to destroy the other player's fast-breeding Awful Green Things before they eat everyone.

  • Gnostica (2 - 5 players): abstract wargame played with Icehouse pieces on a shifting field of tarot cards. We'll touch on the endgame controversy and try some patches that the designers are working with.

  • Space Station Assault (2 players): simple and fast spaceship shoot-em-up card game. Published by Somerville's own Your Move Games.

  • Memoir '44 (2 players): modular, scenario-based WWII wargame, made "lightweight" through relatively abstract rules and a card-based tactical mechanic. Additionally, if anyone has (or knows of) an extra Memoir '44 set that is loanable, I'd like to try a Memoir '44 Overlord game, which I believe takes 4 players.

  • The Ur-Quan Masters, a.k.a. Star Control 2 (2 players). UQM is actually a single-player computer adventure game, but it includes a mini-game that lets two players blast away at each other with the various alien starships that appear throughout the main game. I want to capture a little footage of this in play, filming the players at the same time.

  • Leave a comment or send mail if you're interested, letting me know what games you'd like to play on-camera, and what your availably looks like. You may not get to be on every game you want to play, so feel free to overschedule yourself and we'll work out the details later. I haven't entirely decided what format to use for the 2-player games; the show has two hosts but it might be boring to just watch us play all of them, and I like the idea of constantly rotating in new guest players.

The shoot location in all cases will probably be the SCAT studio in Union Square, Somerville.
