Of a certain age

My friendsfriends page is now almost entirely a roiling and wholly unwitting battle between individual pregnant people and pregnancy communities, and the childfree community. Both of which make me glow cherry-red as my interest level dopplers away into another continent.

?show=P is your friend. Wish I'd figured that one out earlier.

I found this post via Google. You just saved my sanity too by posting the show=P trick. Where is that documented?

I don't intend ever to have children, but hardcore childfree folks give me hives.

today i don't want to have kids. tomorrow that might change. i also don't feel that everyone i know has the best kids ever, in fact some of them are very difficult to be around. yes, i have disliked specific children before, which tends to horrify some people - but how can you NOT like a child? it's actually pretty easy.

In my case it's entirely selfishness. When someone I know (or like to pretend that I know) gets pregnant, I feel a personal loss, like they've gone and joined this cult that is going to take over their lives in a way that I cannot at all relate to.

Seeing a pregnant Samantha Bee on the Daily Show was a shock... I found myself semi-consciouosly hoping it was a joke, until it was clearly not (the factuality of it was necessary as the foundation of a barb aimed at Bill O'Reilly).

Babies themselves are aliens and I don't get them at all, and am simply uncomfortable in their presence.

i understand. not so much with the baby thing, as i come from a place where when i was first chair flute in my junior high school band the second chair flute was pregnant. i am just used to it, i guess. someone i know is always breeding. where the sense of loss comes in for me is usually when friends get married. it's like, now i have to let someone else into the club, and what if s/he is a chump, and ditto on the relating thing.

babies are aliens. i do not like babies, even though they can grow into awesome little kids.

My kids are cats. They're about the most I can handle ... well, and the occasional radio drama troupe. As long as there's Jell-O to hand. ;)
