The stooge injected into NASA by the Bush administration in order to staunch science communication that neocons/plutocrats/christicons don't like has been revealed to be a complete phony and has tendered his resignation.

God dammit you guys. I wonder whose son-in-law he was...

Actually, I suppose I should say a stooge, not the. I'm guessing that this one (a 24-year-old dropout) just lacked political experience and subtlety.
Yesterday, Dr. Hansen said that the questions about Mr. Deutsch's credentials were important, but were a distraction from the broader issue of political control of scientific information.

"He's only a bit player," Dr. Hansen said of Mr. Deutsch. " The problem is much broader and much deeper and it goes across agencies. That's what I'm really concerned about."

Survey (wikipedia) says:
"...Deutsch had lied on his résumé about earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from Texas A&M University in 2003. Deutsch did attend A&M, but left school in 2004 to work for George W. Bush's reelection campaign."

So, basically, an impressionable kid brought in to, as you say, stooge, after volunteering his life to his liege. My question is why they can't even find *competent* help... didn't 48% of the country vote for this guy?

Sturgeon's Law says 90% of everything is crud. It's pretty clear that 100% of Bush's 48% was drawn from that 90%.

That percentage doesn't care about science; they just want to be protected from terrists.

Hmm...they can't even find any competent dissemblers?
