Shadow

Shadow the cat is here. She seemed excited and curious at first, but after my parents left and stayed gone she got pretty upset, and has since been avoiding me, sneaking around with her tail down, and hissing at me if I seem to be approaching her deliberately.

This is not at all like the last in-home cat-sitting job I did! I hope she gets over it soon.

Heh, I hear her using the litterbox now, so some of it's going right.

She'll come around, as long as you give her time to approach you.

When I brought my cat to my mother's house before I moved off to Boston, she spent about 4 of the 7 days under our old wooden tv. (Scared the crap out of us, because we didn't know there was an opening under the tv in the back, so we couldn't find her for hours). Was this a different cat you sitted in your home? She might be smelling it.

There was a cat here for half a year in 2005. You may be right, but Shadow hasn't been shy about busily rubbing her own scent all over everything, so there'll be less of the old cat to smell soon enough.

I was hopeful when she bumped against my legs this morning, but she still hissed when I happened to move towards her while going about my apartment. This is not her usual personality at all, so it's sad to see. Poor kitty.

Change scares the crap out of cats (unless your Amanda's Bandit evidently), but she'll adjust. How long do you have her? Pretty soon she'll be rubbing herself all over you to claim you as hers. (erm, that sounds a bit dirty, but you know what I mean).

well bandit got used to moving (she did have 4 homes in less than 4 months) did you try plying her with treats?

Treats & toys is a good idea. I'll get some on the way home today. She likes the shaky-can things.

They also got these catnip-filled little mice toys, both of our cats go nuts over them.
