I'm totally doing this this weekend. After three years, my keyboard is really quite disgusting. I'm embarrassed to let other people use it.

How NOT to clean your keyboard.

Put it in the shower and hang it up to dry for about a day or two like my old roommate Jay did once.

Jay was one of the most helpless and incompetent roommates I ever had. Amongst other follies:

- He joined some multi-level marketing scam (which eventually got shut down). The only other person ever in his 'circle' was his even more helpless and incompetent girlfriend.

- Bought a cheap-o cell phone plan with relatively few minutes/month. Rung up $400 in overages in the first month, cancelled it when he couldn't pay, thus incurring another $170 charge. And whined about it for several more months.

- He complained about how cold it was in his room all winter. His bed was next to the the window. He never put up the window-insulation kit plastic I gave him, and never shut the OUTER window (thus the only thing between him and wisconsin winter was a single pane of glass).

- The cold section of window next to the relatively warm bed has caused condensation on the wall under his bed for over 4 months. When he finally moved his bed the area behind it was black with mold/mildew.

- He ended up paying about $2000 for a used peice of junk car that probably wasn't worth $1000.

- He got a bootleg version of Maya, did a few slipshod videos with it using all built-in and demo objects, and tried to enter some kind of video art school. [one of the requirements was a 20 panel storyboard and resulting video prodution ... he submitted about 3 panels and a few accompanying sketches, and a few scenes via Maya] He never heard from them again.

- His mother would call almost daily and he'd have almost the same conversation with her daily for about a half and hour about getting his shit together.
