Caught up on Lost.

Finale: Ha ha ha that was cute. In a good way. I like that they've ended the three seasons on completely different notes from one another.

I'm always peeved at examples of dramatic characters sacrificing themselves when there's just not adequate in-world reason for it. I believe it to be a first for this show; too bad. I'm sure that the appropriate fora were alight with "Derp, why didn't Charlie just run out of the room and then swim away with Desmond, going out the same way they came in?" Because that is a very good question indeed. Meh.

Now to read all a' y'all's cut posts from a coupla weeks ago.

At first I thought it was because he thought it would be bad to flood the whole Looking Glass station, but now I think it's just because he felt he had to fulfill the prophecy in order for everyone to get rescued (like Desmond told him).

That's still kind of weak, especially considering that an ep or two ago "proved" that Desmond's visions don't have to be exact for them to come true - he saved Charlie and everything else still happened just as he foresaw. And Charlie knew it, too.

Maybe Charlie thought that Desmond actually "saw" Penelope as the parachutist instead of just assuming that it'd be her, and therefore figured that something actually did change by his not getting arrowed in the throat, but if so some expository dialog would have been nice. Meh again.

This is a phenomenon (the getting peeved) that gets far, far worse if you've had kids and therefore watched a lot of stuff aimed at children. Kid's shows have to make sense. After a few years of that, almost all adult TV and most movies become completely unwatchable because you realize how much papering-over of plot holes you've been doing without even realizing it.
