My parents (now visiting) say that they plan on registering as Democrat in the primaries because there's no way any Republican can take the White House, so they might as well put theirs in for their favorite of the other team. (Mom likes Edwards, right now.)

I guess being perceived as a winner counts for a lot.

Interesting that the Democrat they picked is the guy trying to claim the Internet-based-progressive-left territory (though I doubt he has much chance of getting nominated).

Sadly I think the fact that he's the white male among the front-runners counts for a lot. (Bonus points for not being Hillary Clinton, who is not only a woman, but Hillary Clinton.)
