Oh snap my parents are going to be visiting this weekend. I'm starting to wish I was less jokey in my half-jokey mutterings to put off further contact with them until after the election. Damn.

I'm in the same boat, my friend. My parents broke the moratorium that we had on political talk until the election. Argh, the ignorance. It's like watching Fox News, only more close-to-home.

As near as I can tell, the Republican strategy for this election is to spread lies about themselves and then blame the Democrats, thus taking the moral high ground and getting the added bonus of confusing the issue so profoundly that someone might actually vote for them by mistake.

The thing that is grossing me out right now is the actual news about Palin's daughter's pregnancy, coming right on the heels of the slimy rumors about her I was complaining about only yesterday. My head spins even as my heart breaks. That poor girl had enough crap to contend with before becoming national news because her mom is a tool.

Talk about confusing the issue, all right...
