Ludo-whatnow?

Just had reason to touch up my LinkedIn profile. Re-aimed the Volity link to the increasingly useful company page Zarf made, changed my profile's headline from "Software Consultant" to "Software Consultant and Ludocentric Entrepreneur", and added this graf to my description:
I am also the president of Volity Games (http://volity.com), a little startup I run with a few friends. Through various experimental web-based projects, as well as a blog and occasional TV show we produce, we study games as a communication medium, and seek innovative new ways for people to come together through play.
Half of me is rolling his eyes, and half of me says "Yeah, sounds about right."

Perhaps instead of saying "a little starup I run with a few friends" which kind of sounds like your belittling your own company, why don't you say "s start up I run with a few colleagues" or something?

Good idea, thanks.

I was surprised at the down-on-myself quality of the description that used to be there, and removed several such sentences while adding that one. But you're right, it's still got too much false humility attached. (It's a bad habit I get from working with [livejournal.com profile] radiotelescope. Haha.)

Well stop that! :-P To you, it's false humility, to other's it's "wow, even the president has no faith in this company. Must suck big time"

See, now I don't know if you mean my devil-advocating ways have ground you down, or if you just picked up my own enormous self-antipromoting habits.

Definitely mean the latter. You're not the only source of "Gee, I sure do suck" in my sphere, and I was doing it before I met you, but I consider you a significant vector for the habit anyway.

Believe me, I'm a big fan and promoter of criticizing other people. (See above.)
