- Forgot to bring my ID to work, and the security guard gave me a hard time, for the security guards have recently received some imperative compelling them to act like security guards and not like lazy doormen, as they have been. Lacking the motivation to sneak in, and discouraged by my slipping back into my 2-10 sleep schedule (despite events I wanted to attend this evening), I just turned 'round and took the T back home again, and worked from there.
- Bought Civilization III last night and now I wonder if I regret it, as it's already eaten up six or seven hours of my time, just playing a game on the easiest skill level, and that's not very cool. I do not enjoy feeling the addiction-juices pulsing through my head as a result of an hours-long cookie-jumping exercise like this. I don't enjoy it at all. Hmm. Maybe I'd enjoy it more on a more difficult setting, with actual challenge tempering the moronic joy of watching my little men glacially and inexorably roll over their foes.
- Witnessed two separate instances, one iRL and one oLJ, of people voceriferously dissing the many-years-old-now Mac shareware game Snood because it fails to acknowledge the fact that it's a clone of an earlier arcade game. I find this behavior unsettling, but it is not totally random; Snood got a mention on Slashdot recently, and that probably knocked certain people into Grr Grr Ranting Comment Mode, no matter how trivial the topic. I moderate you all -1 Scary., mostly for reminding me what I was like back when I followed video game politics. Leave while you still can.
- The book is out but I lacked the motivation to go pick up a copy from the office. Or even think too much about it. Blargh.
- Speaking of blargh, some friends have been messing with personals sites lately, and encouraged me to hook up with a young woman whose profile read: "I like toast! Blargh." I have not followed up on this for fear of what I would find, specifically that JohnK has alter-egos he hasn't told us about.
