Busy day

Today was a busy day, if you count seven hours of RPGing as a legitimate busy activity.

Starting with the end, the game was fun, moreso, I felt, than the last Joshian Cthulhu one-shot. The character interaction seemed much smoother, as did the story's pacing. However, the final verdict, much like last time, was "You have merely forestalled the inevitable." The game ended with only three PCs (one of whom was insane) going to the end-boss lair and doing an incomplete job of dismantling their plans. This happened because I completely and confidently misinterpreted a clue, and so announced that my character would be falling asleep (and had two other players follow my lead), thinking that the morning would bring additional information, when in fact we were all supposed to make our assault right then. So it goes with one-shots, I guess. Still, I believed I was on the right track right up until I learned that I wasn't, and that's more fun than intentionally playing conservatively and paying the price for it. I will be sure to write a little critique for Josh tomorrow, anyway.

The highlight of the evening was the performance given by the player of the aforementioned insane PC, who was new to the group. He was absolutely hilarious, and entirely appropriate. Even before the unfortunate incident that sent him all widdershins, he roleplayed "seriously" without being annoying about it, and actually quite entertaining.

Earlier in the day, I worked on HTS Manager for about three hours. It actually took a little less time than that to meet my goal, but I have started to think of my work in three-hour blocks after I learned about this excellent article through Jim. (I also really dig the W=UH rule it mentions.) It seems reasonable to think that every day I work on something means that I will devote one such block to it, and if I want to go all-out, that's two blocks. And that's probably all that'll get.

After that, and before Cthulhu, I did dishes & laundry. It occurred to me that "Dishes & Laundry" would be a good title for my weblog.

Here is some stuff about Arthur Machen. I actually don't know who he was or what he did, but he topped the Googlerankings for a pre-game preparatory info search, and it looks kind of interesting, though I haven't read it yet. La.
