My left foot has started to complain rather bitterly about these new shoes; a bony spot on top is going yaaaaarrgggh with every step, when shod. Ah, my feet are so messed up. I feel the same pain with much less intensity in the other foot, so I can tell that it comes from some difference of opinion between my shoes and my feet, and not deadly foot cancer.

Hoping that I will break the shoes' will soon, before they break mine. They are too expensive to lose a battle of wills to.

Also, in case it wasn't obvious: no Origins for me this year. I sort of wish I had planned to go, but OTOH the stuff that's come up at work might have forced me to cancel these plans, and that would have made me very sad.

I'm betting that it's rather likely I'll go next year, however.

In other news, I just now worked up the gumption to call the Mass DOR, and connected to a clueful fellow who told me exactly what I needed to do in order to dodge this $2,700 bullet. I am relieved to find that it does not involve trying to shake financial records out of Adelphia; I instead have to palaver ORA for two months' worth of payment history, which should prove far less difficult.

I'd figured as much, but that don't mean I'm happy about it.
Some other time? Maybe you'll be on the West Coast for some
unknowable reason? %-}

P.S.: So, the 2004 WorldCon is in Boston...
