This is the most bizarre NYT article I have ever read, not so much in content (which is rather unsettling) as in its very existence. And vast length. And the motivations behind so much verbiage, which knows it can't possibly grow large enough to cover all the damage, but it can't help but try. Man...

sick day

Sick day today, down with a run-of-the-mill cold, and lovely weather for it, too.

I built an RSS feed for the media log, accessible at http://media.jmac.org/media_rss.pl. It's the first time I have used RSS in quite a while so I hope I'm doing it right. The validators seem to think it's OK. It uses RSS 1.0, and apparently there's a 2.0 now. Last I knew, "the community" was still divided over 0.9 versus 1.0. Aha... this page over in UserLand seems to infer that 2.0 is a creation of the folks (Dave WIner among them) who refuse to acknowledge 1.0's legitimacy. Dear me. Now I'm curious.

Still haven't posted about the media log to any static jmac.org page. Holding off until I fix some factual and spelling errors with the 2000 entries, and holding off on that until I fix a couple minor bugs with my entry editor.

With the media log representing both an old project I've rescued from the back burner (quite the cluttered surface, that) and the first personal project I've launched since closing the book on the Book, I've started to dig through other stuff on the pile as well.

Ahhh: MIGS. My on-and-off obsession for three years now, still no more than a glimmer. We meet again.

In other news, after using VoodooPad, I'm not discouraged about BrainDump anymore. Now: VoodooPad is a great app, but the fact is that I think BD, as it already is, does a few things better. Someday I will figure out how to make the blankety-blank drag-and-drop work, and it will be a nice thing.
