All my northern friends, anyway... there is much mutual riding of rising stars in the Arcus crowd these days. If thought those kids were ambitious a year ago, I really had no idea.

While [livejournal.com profile] keimel is singlehandedly WAPping Waterville and doing various interesting things to which I remain NDA-bound (all after he and his wife started to raise a family, I might add... holy smokes), this morning's post reports that [livejournal.com profile] jtroutman and [livejournal.com profile] daerr have announced the launch YA business, whose first action is the corpse looting asset acquisition of a moribund ISP's fiery network infrastructure, for which great things are planned.

Very exciting to follow, as always.

Boss just steamrolled over next week's vacation plans. I don't fault him for it, because he is like me in many ways, and thus did not mark on his calendar my days off after verbally approving them with me, last month. I haven't told him about this yet, and he'll feel bad about it when I do. I'll assure him it's OK. I mean, hey, this is gonna be the first time-sensitive project that's popped up since I started here, and that's a little exciting, in an of itself.

It's not really a big deal... still going to see [livejournal.com profile] leahleaf and [livejournal.com profile] monkeymad in Balto that weekend, but I was hoping it'd be the closing weekend of an entire week off, and that's not gonna happen. And I do need a holiday.

Well... next month, I guess.

I just received my very first cell-phone spam (after a year and a half of the cellular life), a marketing call from RCN, who is my cable provider, asking if I wanted to upgrade to their platinum-level blue-star double-happiness service package. Sadly, the fellow simply talked around my "I'm not interested, thanks" by taking a well-let-me-tell-you-why-you-should-be-interested tone, which baffled me, and so I just hung up on him.

Eeehn. I was feeling good about RCN when the installation at my new place went smoothly, with a clueful and friendly installer guy, but this sort of business rather levels things out again. Poor RCN... I hope the rumors I hear about them aren't as dire as all that, but the desire to hard-sell existing customers would seem to be a rather unfortunate indicator.
