HoRGN yesterday was great. It was exactly what I needed. I loves people.

No costume for me, again. Maybe next year, if I start thinking about it now. I did try, lamely, claiming a purely informational costume, so answered questions about my attire with "I am a humanoid from 'Defender'" or "I am the random number generator from Nethack; would you like your possessions identified?" Yeah, I know.

I considered also claiming that I was Dance Dance Revolution, but J came as the DDR Max girl, complete with terrifying platform boots, so that was that.

Also in attendance:

CC was Castle of Magic, which is one of my most recent favorite games, largely thanks to [livejournal.com profile] colorwheel. (Hmm, my favorite-games page needs an update, doesn't it.) Wearing a homemade game board on his jersey, carrying the Amulet, Crown, and Scepter. The latter of these was one of those tubes that goes "beeeeooooop" when you tilt it, so this was the night's theme song, for good or ill.

Inability to remember the CoM country names led to speculation about how totally awesome it would be if Medford had, like, an Amulet of Ultimate Municipal Control.

colorwheel was a coffee bean from Bohnanza. This was achieved through a Diesel T-shirt and "1 of 24" written on her forehead. Very good.

[livejournal.com profile] cnoocy and Kyuss were CoM wizards. They were dressed in street clothes, but would whisper secrets about their goals and allegiances if asked.

R&J were the pirate and robber, respectively, from Seafarers of Catan. To prevent gamespace collision, [livejournal.com profile] cthulhia, also wearing robberish garb, declared that she was actually one of the black tokens from Carcassonne.

[livejournal.com profile] rikchik, dressed in RGB, was a pixel. Innocuous comments about him actually being a dead pixel (bright red and in your face) broke cnoocy for some reason.

Actual games played: was introduced to Timelines, a new Cheapass Games game that is very clever, and which I want to play again, though I don't quite have a handle on its strategy yet. I did manage to beat everyone up at a game of Hunters and Gatherers, even though [livejournal.com profile] queue pulled off quite a queue-coup to snag the standing stones.

This is the least sensical weblog post I have EVER MADE. Have a nice day.

I am waiting for the Gov't to announce Protection from the Terrible Secret of Space Week.

Well, I've cleaned my apartment to a truly uncharacteristic degree, and no sign of the missing iPod or power brick. I am ready to chalk it up to experience.

I am more disappointed in not having the foggiest how I lost them than in the loss itself. It's so unaccountable that I keep coming back to thievery, blaming the outside world, but no possible scenario there hashes out. Who knows.. It's all good. I just ate a delicious quesadilla in my suddenly clean apartment.
