Battlestar Galactica fails the Wheaties Test[1]. I had steeled myself for the fembots, and was willing to give them a pass (though their introduction was much stoopider than I had hoped) but a dead baby (with sound effect) in the first fifteen minutes means you lose, TV show. I really didn't want to explore this world any more after that.

I am in a very cranky mood and seeing this shit when hello I plainly asked for the thrilling space battles does not help. ARGH. So angry. I guess i'll do the dishes.

Another reason for liking TiVo: the feeling (if not the reality, exactly) that you can take revenge on teevee shows that insult you, via the thumbs-down button. Oh yeah? doingdoingdoing, suck my thumb, Chimpy. Yeeeaaah.

I will mention something nice: You might get the new Science Channel. I do. It has "Connections" running every weekday; I've only ever seen a couple and always wanted to see more, and now I'm awash in them. It's great. Watch it. It will make you happy.

[1] Jargon I picked up from my first journalism instructor in college. Specifically refers to stories in the morning paper, because you don't want your writing style to cross the line from edgy into disgusting, and thus cause readers to eject their breakfast onto the page.
