Yesterday I slid the Kerry campaign a little something -- the first such gift I ever made to a political campaign -- because of a silly donations-soliciting Flash ad that depicted a big-headed cartoon Kerry pushing over a big-headed cartoon GWB, who was balanced precariously on a stack of gold bars and wearing a crown. It was so jarring and dopey, so unlike any direct from-the-candidate political ad I've ever seen in any media, that it won me over. I for one welcome our new super-deformed presidents.

They should pay the rathergood.com guy to do some ads. That would be great. Viking kittens for Kerry.

Short NYT feature article on Santa Muerte, an Catholic sub-cult invented by desperate dwellers of the Mexican underworld who feel they have nobody else to pray to.
According to her followers, Santa Muerte is not above pleasures of the flesh, even though she has no flesh. She prefers feathered boas and sequined gowns to celestial blue robes illuminated by the sun. She likes chocolates and flaunts rows of rings on each finger. She chain-smokes, and drinks her whiskey straight.
