Nov. 5th, 2004 09:46 pmHoly crap the new PS2 only marginally looks like the old one. The machine I have at home is about the size of an ancient laptop when folded (or a stack of two modern ones). The one in P&J's apartment is way dinkier in all directions; I'd say it's about the size of your state's driver's handbook. (Assuming your state's driver's handbook isn't very large.)
Peter's reaction was as expected, but he went through the roof when he learned that it can play DVD movies, which I hadn't even thought about. So I showed them how everything worked, and we played two innings of the Sox vs. the Portland Sea Dogs (!!). The game was EA's MLB 2004, which is actually last year's edition; I figured that he'd be happy with it, since this was the year, and it saved me about $25 since the prior years' sports titles are always supa cheap. (I did buy the brand-new NHL 2005, because I knew he'd appreciate the irony. (Coz there may not in fact be an NHL 2005 iRL, due to strikes.))
Peter had a W sticker on his car! Between that and my parents' reports, I have no idea how he voted, and didn't want to broach the subject. Still, is it possible that he and his wife voted for different candidates?! If so this would make me feel kind of torn about him; on the one hand making me proud by seeming to show a real political opinion of his own, but on the other hand...
