Jason McIntosh: A problem is the SVG originally supported some other binding language, which some SVG libs had started to support
Jason McIntosh: and then W3C changed its mind
Jason McIntosh: arg
Erik Ray: W3C is a gigantic oil tanker with big momentum and slow turning ability. for them to suddenly change their mind would be like striking a reef. lots of carnage.
Jason McIntosh: well, i wasn't there when it happened
Jason McIntosh: I just know that when SVG was new, years ago, they said "use this binding language", and now they say something else.
Jason McIntosh: This I get from reading mailing list archives.
Erik Ray: did you read about the fistfights?
Erik Ray: supposedly, Tim Berners-Lee got a barstool broken over his head in that one.
Jason McIntosh: Yeah, it's like the estonian parliament or something
Erik Ray: exactly
Jason McIntosh: TBL regularly launches himself bodily at detractors
Erik Ray: from a cannon
Jason McIntosh: He wears a mask and a cape and demands to be introduced as EL DIABLO SEMANTICO
Erik Ray: okay, I just snorted pepsi out my nose

NEWS! AS! IT! HAPPENS!

[livejournal.com profile] mangosteen is sitting at the table next to mine, and is talking to someone about his recent Poker adventures, after making a painful simile regarding cheese graters.

Ahhh, Monday, i love ya. I actually have buttloads of deadlines to meet this month, for serious, lest I want to turn my political situation at work to go from Weird to Bad. If I do things right, it will go from Weird to Not There Anymore. I am feeling full of potential right now, standing on Monday and looking at the next three weeks stretching out below me, and I think I can do OK. Just give me time to get started.

Really good dKos thread from a U.S. soldier currently serving in Iraq. He responds eloquently with with a cool head throughout, even to the idjits who say he's dumb not to desert.

(I have noticed that here are actually several active-duty, Iraq-stationed folk who post regularly to the site, and an apparently larger number of regulars with children serving overseas.)
